You know when something is good when you accidenta You know when something is good when you accidentally delete most of your footage of it while trying to free up memory 🤦🏻‍♀️and still manage to make a pretty fun Reel 🪐

YOU:MATTER at @mediamuseum in Bradford, West Yorkshire is well worth going back again to anyway to bag more footage.

After a big renovation, the museum has reopened with brilliant hands-on permanent exhibitions (free to enter but easiest to book a ticket online first - more to follow)

And now, as part of @bradford_2025 , you can also visit YOU:MATTER, an immersive digital art exhibition by @marshmallowlaserfeast until 22 February 2026.

It isn’t huge - but really interactive and actually managed to provoke some interesting science related discussions. Which felt like a summer holiday win.

Donations are from just £2 (a steal compared to some other immersive experiences).

Anyway, any tips on sorting through a gazillion photos and videos? Or are you all just plonking them on some kind of cloud?

Here I am, back again, mystifying the Instagram ov Here I am, back again, mystifying the Instagram overlords by posting twice in the space of 2 days. They shouldn’t fret, though, I’m back to work again next week and so my haphazard posting will resume.

But for now, I have a backlog of fun things to share.

Here was our day out in Leeds (an obligatory part of our holiday routine). This time we:

1. Got up close with some curious characters on the free @wonderlandleeds trail around the city centre

2. Discovered the Fragment and Form exhibition @henrymooreinstitute using the explorer baskets - before creating some sculptures of our own in their drop-in workshop (free on again Fri 8th Aug and later in the month)

3. Walked through @leedsartgallery (give what you can), enjoying glimpses of a neon sculpture by Glenn Ligon on the way to the library to swap our books

4. Stocked up on snacks at @sing.kee as my 9 year old is living off wasabi seaweed at the moment 🤷🏻‍♀️

You never know I might pop up again tomorrow with more on our trips to Bradford or Weston-Super-Mare. Be warned. ⚠️

Oh and happy international cat day 😸

The downy scent of wool, the echoes of old folk so The downy scent of wool, the echoes of old folk songs and gigantic renderings of tiny antique figurines.

I know much is said about immersive exhibitions, but Ann Hamilton’s We Will Sing - in the immense top floor of @saltsmillofficial in Saltaire, Bradford - is the best kind of multi sensory installation.

Free until 2 November, as part of @bradford_2025 . While you’re there, you can stop by the cafe or the gorgeous bookshop. And if you are feeling energetic, a walk down the canal and a playground stop in Roberts Park is always a good plan.

Back in the spring, when we chose to holiday in En Back in the spring, when we chose to holiday in England this year, I decided to be a bit more extravagant about our accommodation than usual. So I searched for a holiday apartment with a pool, hot tub and sauna. I didn’t really care where it was.

So I’d love to tell you that I had planned our trip so we could at last visit @hauserwirthsomerset . But I didn’t. When I realised it was just down the road, though, I didn’t mind just one bit 😍.

Niki de Saint Phalle and Jean Tinguely‘s joyful Myth and Machines exhibition is on until 1 Feb 2026 and is free to visit.

I wish all art galleries would learn a little from I wish all art galleries would learn a little from @compton_verney in Warwickshire.

Every exhibition had so much to entertain kids - from sniff bottles so they could become immersed in the scene to creating a city sturdy enough to withstand a volcano eruption.

Then of course there is all the outdoor space, trails and playground. 🌲

A great multigenerational day out, not too far from Stratford-Upon-Avon, Coventry and Birmingham.

Kids are free (and we used our Tesco Clubcard vouchers to pay for some of our entry).

Kynren in Bishop Auckland, County Durham is unlike Kynren in Bishop Auckland, County Durham is unlike anything else you’ll get to see - and it’s back for its 10th year ⚔️🎇 #hosted

The 90 minute romp through history runs between 9.15 and 10.45pm (so dusk to dark) - so taking our kids felt like a gamble. But my 13 and 9 year old loved it (I think they would have struggled if they’d been much younger, although we did see a brave couple with their baby).

Top tip: bring your big coats - when the sun drops it can get nippy. We also brought a blanket - so we were super snuggly.

My 9 year olds favourite bit was the immersive Viking Village. My 13 year loved the spectacle - and of course the battle scenes 🙄😅

Tickets on sale now - and the opening night is 19 July. Check out @kynren for some early discount codes.

Let me know if you have questions - unless it is how exactly they manage to have the boat rise out of the water … apparently it has something to do with very clever hydraulics and diving Vikings 😮

Here’s 5 of our favourite rainy day attractions Here’s 5 of our favourite rainy day attractions in Leeds city centre (just in case you need a little inspiration in your back pocket):

1. Leeds Central Library has a decent book selection for children and young adults. Plus, now it’s home to a gorgeous free play area for little ones.
2. @mathscityleeds is packed full of hands on activities. Always a brilliant couple of hours for primary school aged kids.
3. @leedscitymuseum is a great free rain shelter, with lots of fun crafts, trails and interactive galleries. The current Miffy exhibition bring extra cuteness.
4. Arty kids will love the free activity station and explorer bags in the @henrymooreinstitute - then head next door to @leedsartgallery to find another creative space for kids
5. The new @funstation_uk has just opened in The Light - with a huge choice of arcade games 👾

Of course, we also like a mooch around @leedsmarket (for street food and holiday activities) and @leedscornex (for cute stores) too.

Oh and the Henry Moore Institute actually has free half term drop in workshops on Tuesday 27 May. X

Brooding mood + joyful new sculpture trail 🌿🎨

I’d promised everyone a very slow Saturday. But then when was my word ever to be trusted 🤷🏻‍♀️

And no-one complained. How could you, when confronted by the tactile Wild Uplands sculpture trail, stretching across the moors where the Brontë sisters once roamed.

It’s been created by @rougeit @vanessadasilvasilvasilva @meherunnisa.asad and @moniraism as part of @bradford_2025 , and sits up on the moor in Penistone Hill Country Park just above Haworth. It will be there until 12 October.

There’s a family trail (which you can print off before you go or pick up in town). And the route isn’t too long for little legs (although wear your sensible walking shoes). It took us about an hour, moving at a very sedate pace and taking photos.

While you are there, you can also enjoy @operanorth sound walk Earth & Sky (download via the app before you arrive and bring headphones).

We then popped back into town for a pink lemonade and a stroll down the hill to the park and playground.

So just nice and quiet then 😅
